#EnglishPost #VSCode-extension-hack #how-to-write-blog

Hi there,I’m Show-ya.Kisaragi from Japan. I’m Beginner of English.
Today,I started new plan by my main blog “Show-ya Gadget Blog”.
Now I wtite this story and how to doing and I remaked VS Code’s extrension “WordPress Post”.
If you have a few minutes, please read this blod and write comment please.

What I start new planning

Well, it’s more like a new approach, really. After continuing to write my blog as a form of training for 13 years, I started thinking that maybe it was time to put myself out there in the world. As an experiment, I reached out to BOSE asking if they could lend me some earphones, to PFU requesting they provide a palm rest for HHKB, and to OPPO asking for a loan of the OPPO A5x. They all graciously agreed, and I was able to write blog articles about their products.
Then I think ”I have a few ability”.

So I’ve been thinking it’s about time to put myself out there in the world. Since I’m known as a TRPG person on Twitter (now X), I was wondering how to go about promoting myself, and as a result, I decided to do this:

  • Create gadget blogs and simultaneously turn the summaries into 30-90 second short videos
  • Post the short videos I make to YouTube/Instagram/Facebook/TikTok
  • Similarly, translate the gadget blogs into English (after studying with Duolingo for 4 years, I’ve become reasonably capable of writing) and post them
  • Create short videos for the English versions and post those too
  • For the English versions, I thought about using Reddit but the karma system was difficult, so for now I’m using Medium to post

That’s the approach.

And since I’m cross-posting the Japanese version of the blog to note as well, I need to set hashtags, so if I’m adding hashtags for note, I’d also like to add hashtags to the WordPress blog. Plus, I want to use IFTTT so that when I post to WordPress, it automatically posts to X with hashtags included.

Here’s the English translation:

So What Tools Will I Use to Implement This?

Now, what tools will I use to implement all of this?

Short Video Creation

For short videos, I have a blog name jingle I made a while ago (about 3 seconds), so I’ll put that at the beginning, and then create 3 slides using Mac’s Keynote.

  • Jingle: Blog title display
  • Slide 1: Product photo and tagline
  • Slide 2: Introduction of 4-5 features
  • Slide 3: Article conclusion and blog redirect

I “export these as images,” record voice-over of the content using Mac’s Accessibility “Speak Selection” feature, and combine everything in iMovie to create short videos. Once you get used to it, it’s about 15 minutes of work. I do the same process for English content.

Introducing Polylang Plugin for Blog Translation

To make WordPress sites and posts multilingual, the “Polylang” plugin is the easiest option. Don’t let it auto-suggest – search specifically for “Polylang” to install the correct plugin, then activate and set it up.
With this, when you look at your post list, you can set the language for “created posts,” and if you have English configured, there will be a + mark in the English column that you can click to start creating an English page.
By the way, if you want to set a page created through another method as an English page, you can type the article name in the input field next to the + mark, and it will suggest articles. Select the one you want and click “Save” to link them.
It’s incredibly simple, so I highly recommend it.

Making VS Code’s WordPress Post Compatible with Hashtags and Polylang

I post to WordPress using VS Code with the WordPress Post extension, and I create articles using Typora editor for markdown. However, I had needs for “inserting raw HTML tags,” “creating a hashtag field in the header and inserting those hashtags at the beginning of articles (since IFTTT uses the beginning text for promotion, this includes hashtags in X posts),” and “creating a language field in the header to communicate the language to Polylang.”

Therefore, I made the following modifications to WordPress Post:

  • Content surrounded by “<!–!” and " !–>" within articles is output directly as HTML
  • Hashtags specified with “hashtag : “#hashtag”” in the header are placed at the beginning of the article
  • Language specified with “language : “ja”” in the header is reflected in Polylang

The modified WordPress Post is “available for distribution here”. I don’t think it violates any laws, but I’ll pull it down if it’s problematic.

Note: I Won’t Make Short Videos for This Since It’s Not My Main Blog

Since this isn’t my main blog, I won’t create short videos for it. However, since this blog itself contains technology-related content, I think there’s value in translating it to English, so I’m planning to translate this article.
That’s all for now.
